“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” Isa 61:1
Several years ago, Natasha Kosachevich followed God’s call and quit her job, gave away all her things, and has been following Him where He leads. In January 2016, after several years of missionary work in Russia, she decided to go to Greece to begin working with girls who became victims of sex trafficking.
In the fall of 2014, I had an opportunity to witness about Christ in the streets of Athens, Greece, to minister to the girls in such dark places. One morning in particular, when it was so sunny outside, and we walked into one of the brothels… the darkness surrounded us so fast… my eyes had to take a moment to adjust to the poorly lit room, with smoke and disco lights. That is when I was overwhelmed by the truth of walking INTO THE DARK bringing with me only God’s love and light that is in my heart!
Human trafficking is the world’s second largest criminal enterprise, after weapons. Nea Zoi, the organization in Athens, Greece that I am working with, strives to support and restore individuals in human-trafficking situations, helping them to find a new life. Nea Zoi has a need for Russian-speaking volunteers because a lot of the girls and madams in the brothels are from Eastern European countries.
